Annual
General Meeting: NASWU will hold its
Annual General Meeting on Sat. 28th November 2009.
All Social Workers, please start plans to attend the
meeting. Venue and time later. The General meeting
will take place in Kampala and will be attended by
Social Workers in Kampala and from all the districts
in Uganda. You are advised to reserve this date in
your calendar and start your plans to attend early.

New
branch expected: NASWU is currently
evaluating an application by Social Workers in Kabale
to start the NASWU Kigezi branch. Given their very
good level of organization, the branch status is expected
to be granted. Other parts of the country that wish
to start a NASWU branch are welcome.
Constitutional
Review: NASWU is currently carrying
out a Constitutional review. A working Group started
meeting in June to review the structure of NASWU and
make proposals to the General meeting in November.
Visiting
Team from University of Kentucky (UK):
On June 21, NASWU welcomed a visiting team from the
University of Kentucky (UK), College of Social Work,
who are here to do placements in various Social Work
agencies. The team of 10 students is led by Associate
Prof. Richard Sutphen and Dr. Sossou Marie. The Team
says it has had a great experience working in various
agencies. It is hoped there will be similar visits
in future. A possible exchange program between Makerere
University and UK is under discussion.

Joint World Conference on Social Work and Social Development:
